Representative of the organization BELPOL participated in a high-level conference held in European Parliament within Days of Belarus in Brussels. The opening of the event was marked by the speeches of the European Commissioner for
expansion and good-neighbor policies Martha Cos. and the president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
During the visit, meetings were held with Belgian state authorities, partners based in Brussels, as well as a working meeting with representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
One of the key topics of discussion was the upcoming European Union sanctions packageas well as Coordination of future sanctions against the Lukashenko regime. New data on the involvement of the Belarusan regime in the war against Ukraine were presented, as well as information on the impact of previously imposed sanctions on the Minsk regime. In addition, methods used by dictator Lukashenko to circumvent sanctions were discussed.
Our partners in EEAS emphasized the need to continue sanctions pressure as well as to increase its effectiveness.
